The best, most rare and exclusive tea appreciates faster because the prices for very small exclusive gardens keep on steadily rising at each harvest year. It’s common to see 7-12% yearly price rises (in periods of low inflation, likely to be twice as much in the current medium inflation environment.)
It is traditional to buy at least 1 tong (6 tea cakes) and 1 cake of the best quality puerh you can find produced in the same birth year of a child. One cake is to drink at each birthday, appreciating the evolution of the tea, and the full tong is to gift to the young adult on their 18th birthday.
